Pittsburgh Mills Sky Trail was a great treat for the kids to experience the trill of a ropes course

PittsburghMillsSkyTrail

Pittsburgh Mills Sky Trail is a 32-foot tall, 2 level ropes course complete with 30 exciting elements including zig-zag beams, cargo nets, angled rope ladders, crisscross walks and more. Participants choose their own path through the elements and go at their own pace. The ropes course is also equipped with a Sky Rail zip line connection measuring 69′ long.

The kids started with a knowledgeable staff member who was excellent with them. He set them up with their harness and explained the rules they needed to follow when on the course.

Slide The City Comes to Pittsburgh – Saturday, June 6, 2015 11am-7pm

Wow, I can not wait and neither can my kids! This looks like so much fun! That is a mighty long slide! Wooo! I’m at a loss for words about how exciting this is to be able to experience it.

Best Rates – Early Bird Registration begins Wednesday, April 22, 2015!

Summer time is approaching fast and we are bringing 1000 feet of slick vinyl to brighten your city streets. Slide the City is a family friendly slip-and-slide water party event. There will be live music, food, drinks, water, and of course the biggest slip and slide ever to hit Pittsburgh!

Come dressed to impress because it’s not every day you can strut through town with your hot bod, cool dance moves and slick slides. Did we mention 1000 feet? Yeah, that’s over 3 football fields.

Make sure to bring your water buckets, floaties, and water guns (non-realistic of course), to squirt, spray, splash, and get all attending soaked.

Pittsburgh will get a slippery makeover when the Slide the City Tour brings the 1,000 foot slip and slide to South Park June 6th, 2015. Turning hills into water-sliding thrills is the goal of the event, which was created in an effort to get people outside, having fun, and connecting with their community.

Participants in Slide the City will ride inflatables down a 1,000-ft. slip and slide. This one-of-a-kind experience will help people “slide into summer.” The first event of its kind, Slide the City has seen massive growth since it started in 2014. This original concept went viral when the video was released, and this year promises to be bigger, better, and wetter. “This will be one of the highlights of your year,” said Slide The City Founder, T.R. Gourley “Get ready for the slide of your life!”

Pittsburgh has shown great enthusiasm for the event with over 17,000 people signing up to be notified once registration was opened and hundreds more joining the waitlist daily.

Each rider can purchase a one ride pass, three ride pass, or all-day pass. With over 150 events in the US and Canada, and more than 20 international locations beginning with Japan and Australia as early as March, water slide enthusiasts are sure to find a Slide the City event nearby.

All who are over 46 inches tall and over 5 years old are invited to slide, but remember if you’re under 18 you’ll need to get a sign off from your legal guardians.

Are there group rates available?
If you have a group with 20 or more participants send us an email.

What do you do to address water conservation?
Water conservation is also a priority at our events. We strive to have zero environmental impact on the community. The Slide was designed to have zero water loss, and it treats and recycles the water safely and efficiently throughout the day. When permitted, we donate the water back to the community. Methods of disposal include local reclamation centers, parks, golf courses and other places dependent upon local regulations.

Fun at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh

tile_CMP

Looking for a fun day out with the kids? The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is a great place to go for all ages (including adults). We recently had the opportunity to go for the very first time with some friends of ours. We spent hours there and enjoyed every minute of it!

We began in the water room where they played with buckets, rain, painted with water and even played with snow!

20141226_120100

Next, they dried off and changed, yes, we definitely recommend taking bathing suits so that your child’s clothing doesn’t stay wet the rest of the day. Even though they have smocks and dryers, you never know how much water your child will get into while they are having fun.

They headed straight to the ant hill and climbed and climbed and climbed for at least 20 minutes. Up and down, down and up. They loved it!

20141226_125138

Then we visited the tiled room! WOW! That’s all I can say. It was so much fun, even for me. You literally have to tilt yourself 20 degrees in order to walk straight and not fall into the black wall. We kept going back to try out our tilted walking talents.

20141226_130335

In the bounce room they designed their own bouncy balls!

20141226_144014

They even took a break and listened to a story or two.

20141226_141537 (1024x576)

This made my day. I found the puppet of urSol the Enchanter from the movie, “The Dark Crystal.” I LOVED that movie as a kid!

20141226_130708

Check out this short 11 second video of the virtual puppets we played with. It sensed our movement and we viewed our movements on the screen through puppets.

Even though we were leaving, the kids still posed for a final picture outside after their wonderful day of fun.
