We just finished our 5th month of the 12 month Brain Training Program. Brain retraining is done through a series of physical exercises that selectively accesses a certain part of the brain by having the eyes look in a specified direction. That direction is directly related to a sensory stimulation point.
“C” still continues to enjoy the program. It is a very intensive program that we complete 5 times a week. She does not get bored of the activities at all. This past month’s activities were especially more relevant to her because they addressed blends, sound discrimination, prefixes and letter/word reversals.
It was interesting to watch C work out these activities in her mind before she would answer. She would carefully examine each possible answer and even though she was sure of her answer at times, she would still get excited when she gave the correct answer.
This program is great for students with mixed Dominance, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia and many other needs our kids face today. I enjoy working through this program with my daughter to see how it can help other students, especially those that I work with in school. Like I mentioned in previous posts, it is definitely a program that requires commitment. It should not be difficult though, if you are committed to your child and their needs.
