Easter Bunny Bait

This is such a quick and easy recipe that the kids can help with. If there is enough left after it is cooled, it will work great as bait for the Easter Bunny. I caught the 2 year old on a stool munching down on the entire tray while we were waiting for the chocolate to harden.

You will need:

  • 3 T. popcorn kernels or a bag of microwave popcorn
  • 1/3 C. M&Ms (we used the pastel colors)
  • 1 handfull of pretzels
  • 3 oz. baking chocolate (we used white chocolate)
  • 1 brown paper bag (only if using popcorn kernels)

Begin by placing the kernels in the brown paper bag and place it in the microwave for a little over 2 minutes or until the popping sound slows down.

Pour the popcorn into a large bowl and dump in the pretzels and M&Ms.  Melt the white chocolate in the microwave, stirring every 25 seconds. Once melted, pour it into the bowl and mix it all up, ensuring that the chocolate gets mixed in well with all the popcorn, candy and pretzels.

Lay it all out on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper until the chocolate hardens.  Place in a baggie and tie it with ribbon. Place it in your child’s empty Easter baskets as a “bribe.”  Store any remaining bait in a plastic container.

This bait will not last long. It seems to have the same effect on humans as it does Easter Bunnies.
