TouchTile Review-Level 5-Endings

The TouchTile Reading System is a great system for children who have not been able to learn to read through traditional methods. Some kids need to touch in order to learn. These are kids who learn best by doing. This multi-sensory system teaches them to touch the sounds, blend them together and in the process, understand what they are doing.

My oldest, C, just finished the 5th level which covered endings.  It also brought attention to the vowels in the words because they had irregular sounds.  This level was much harder for her due to the irregular vowel sounds as well as recalling the endings she learned previously. Though I don’t like seeing her struggle, it was comforting all in the same because I could more accurately measure her progress because she simply read them wrong when she first started. After reviewing, she was able to reach mastery.

I particularly enjoyed that the words are in a certain order. Initially, they were grouped together if they had the same endings or same irregular vowel sound. Then, they were mixed up to allow the child to learn to recognize the differences and make their own adjustments.

Her reading skills are continuing to progress very well. She is very proud of herself and looks forward to mastering the real words so she can move onto the nonsense words at each level. These nonsense words are like a fun challenge to her that she looks forward to.

This system is wonderful for my 6 year old. I can see this being a helpful system for any child who has a Learning difference. If you believe your child may have dyslexia, you can take a Dyslexia Test. Learning Link Technologies offers many programs to help your child succeed!
